MWQPR Clients

It's all about the subscription... How new package offerings came to be

One of the big goals @MWQPR for 2015 is creating valuable offerings for small business clients. Those who are unable to work with an agency on a retainer basis, yet still need at minimum the essential Public Relations guidelines.

During a creative session the team started looking at our lifestyle and how we expanded our knowledge base, wellness or way of life. Subscriptions, it is ALL ABOUT the subscriptions, the Gym, your cell phone, weekly mentorship groups, email lists, pod casts... You get the idea, thus we created 3 starter packages and continue to develop PR & Social Media subscriptions (release coming soon)

Our first three packages include DIY PR, the basics for small business & one off projects, One & Done Social Media starter kit and Three Months of Social Media- get the social ball rolling.

Shop Small Saturday

Supporting local businesses has been a passion of mine for years.  Not only do you build a relationship and often times friendship with the business owners, there is a sense of community not present when shopping at large chain stores.

When Shop Small Saturday kicked off a few years ago, I introduced Lola Boutique - Santa Barbara based Women's clothing and accessories to the concept. One of the first Santa Barbara locations to participate, it is thrilling to see so many local businesses taking advantage of the cross promotional opportunities!

This year two of our clients, The Pasta Shoppe  and Camp Canine  are participating in Shop Small Saturday.

The Pasta Shoppe- Opened April 2014 in Santa Barbara's Public Market, founded by Diane Harding, restaurateur.

Camp Canine, Family owned & operated for 30+ years, Doggie Daycare, Grooming, Boarding and training. A huge supporter of local animal shelters including DAWG - Dog Abuse Welfare Group.

A Presto - A new website for The Pasta Shoppe

It's no secret working with food clients has serious perks, menu sampling, editor lunches and well more menu sampling. The Pasta Shoppe, opened April 2014 in The Santa Barbara Public Market bringing together a team of Internationally Trained team members.

In the rush to get opened, the owner, Diane Harding put together a website herself and after the dust settled we sought to create a simple, clean website highlighting the Pasta and team.

UBER - Lyft vs. the Taxi's

Uber & Ride Share Apps.

Valued at about $18bn, the transportation network company Uber is shaking things up for the car service industry. Apart of a new wave of tangible technology which connects riders with on-demand drivers, the startup along with similar ride share applications suchas Lyft have been raved about by users yet criticized for changing cities’ long established transportationservices.

Ride share applications remain a highly favorable alternative to traditional taxis for a number of reasons. Payments are made exclusively through credit cards, the apps save your card details and charges for each ride and cancellation making the payment effortless. The service also offers riders a five-star rating system that the company relies on to fire drivers with frequently poor ratings.  Riders can share rides and split fares, as well enable friends to track the taxi so they map their whereabouts.

Ride share apps are now available in over 160 cities globally but several metropolis’s have already displayed their non support over the technology. In Berlin and Seoul ride share apps are banned for usingunlicensed taxis, while in London cabbies have organized several protests, accusing rideshares of stealing their business and paying insufficient taxes. In the United Sates however, riders seem to be winning the battle against the taxi industry as an overnight vote in Washington to ban Uber initialized a response of 37,000+ tweets, ultimately overthrowing the attempted Uber amendment. According to Uber’sCEO Travis Kalanick, in cities such as San Francisco and New York where the demand for transportation outweighs the supply, ride share apps are necessary and act as an “injection of oxygen”.

For good or bad, it is irrefutable that Uber and ride share apps are rapidly gaining ground. As taxi cartels attempt to hinder technology’s changes to the industry it is vital to ensure that riders are not denied their choice in transportation due to those who want to remain dominant.  As ride share apps continue to gain popularity, city policies and state laws will have to adjust in order to keep competition within the transportation industry fair.
